Conservatives and the Art of BS

You know how to tell if a religion is total bullshit?  There are plenty of ways, chief among them a cursory reading of the religion’s holy book.  But the most amusing way to arrive at this conclusion is to just listen to the representatives of said religion speak.

Enter Bryan Fischer: radio host, Christian, and dumbfuck extraordinaire.  I’m sure you’ve all heard the story of a pastor claiming that Melania Trump requested an exorcism of the White House.  If you haven’t, check it out.  Cue America’s faction of idiocy, the Christian Right.  Continue reading Conservatives and the Art of BS

Be a Man (or Crying is for Sissies)

I read this article on Facebook about Nick Offerman’s response to the question of men crying, and it nearly brought me to tears. Why? Because it’s nice when a famous man who is often seen as a “man’s man” comes out and just throws a monkey wrench in machismo.

It got me to thinking about the things that move me to tears. There was the last scene in the original Independence Day. The thought of an advanced species coming all the way to earth in spaceships that were larger than most cities losing to humans who can barely avoid an accidental nuclear war stirred something in me that I couldn’t deny, and I had to shed those tears.

The Satanic Temple Just Used The Alt-Right’s Own Tactics Against Them

“The State has essentially established a religious indoctrination program intended to push a single ideological viewpoint. The law is intended to punish women who disagree with this opinion. Missouri’s state-mandated informed consent booklets explicitly say that life begins at conception, which is a nonmedical religious viewpoint that many people disagree with. Forcing women to read this information and then wait 72-hours to consider the State’s opinion is a clear violation of the Establishment Clause.”

Make Me a Sammich (Courtland Sykes for Senate)

Nobody knows who the hell this guy is.  I mean, I am personally reminded of the offspring of Robert Herjavec and a very unfortunate muppet.  Ad hominems aside, the only reason I know about this guy is because he said something stupid on Facebook.  Check out his statement: Continue reading Make Me a Sammich (Courtland Sykes for Senate)

Gays versus Blacks

I understand LGBTQ racists as little as I understand black homophobes, transphobes and so on.  Imagine my surprise when I was perusing Facebook and I came across this story:

Philly Patrons Protest Gay Club After Owner Uses N-Word

Basically, three years ago, the owner of a bar called iCandy was recorded on video just tossing out a racial slur.  It was something about ”niggers” asking for drink passes. Continue reading Gays versus Blacks

#METOO: Mansplaining Sexual Assault vs. Bad Dates

You hear about Aziz Ansari being accused of sexual misconduct? Well, if you haven’t, he was.

The story goes that Ansari and a photographer about his age met at an awards ceremony. They struck up conversation, exchanged numbers, and eventually went out on a date. Well, these kids have dinner, and then they go back to Ansari’s place for a bit of Netflix and chill. Problem is, from woman’s perspective, she wasn’t there to chill. In a phrase, she wasn’t dtf. So the lady, “Grace,” and Ansari begin kissing. Ansari begins feeling her up, as young men are wont to do when a woman is at their apartment engaging in what appears to us to be foreplay.

Turkey Baster

The doctor needs to stick a turkey baster between her legs
to photograph a collection of bad memories

of a night when home was no longer home and was,
instead, a thin veneer of civilization,

mascara lining the eyes of a culture
bruised by daddy.

They want to take off her clothes
and make sure her honor isn’t stolen in the bathroom,

because the only thing that can stop a rapist
in the lady’s restroom

is a potential rapist in the lady’s restroom.
They want to take off her clothes

because terrorists wear burkinis. Not like civilized people,
with their boxers and mustaches

and penises and wont to be the love child
of bin Laden and Chris Kyle.

The doctor needs to stick a turkey baster between her legs
to photograph a collection of bad memories

because what is sanctity
if it isn’t forced?
