It was just six days into what we all hoped would be a better year than 2020. The air was alive with happiness and hope as the certification process to confirm the decisive November 3rd election victory of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris (may I add the very first woman and PoC to attain the second highest position in the government). America was determined, focusing on that light at the end of the long, dark tunnel that was the Trump presidency.
As the news of the democratic victory in the Georgia Senate Runoff made its way through the mouths of the usual talking heads, a hot sticky load of white privilege was ejaculated on the steps of the Capitol. It was a scene that could only be described as a meeting of the dumbest revolutionary minds. One could almost see the day’s most notable event as a humorous yet slightly disconcerting vision of the “Idiocracy” prequel were it not for the stark reality that white people could get away with pretty much anything, including parading through the Capitol with the flag of a dead country formed by traitors to the Union.
6 January 2021 was the dumbest day in American history, when the most patriotic amongst us willfully engaged in what could only be termed “terrorism for selfies.” And while the entire world watched the debacle that was American Exceptionalism as expressed by the least common denominators in American society, those of us of color, along with our white allies, shared a collective, almost tangible rage. The question of the day made its way through TV news and the internet: where was the police presence? The Proud Boys themselves threatened this exact activity.
Several Capitol police shined a light on the racist double standard of American justice, most notably when a cop thought it was a good idea to take a selfie with a terrorist. But let us not forget that, despite their clearly illustrated favoritism towards white people and the cops’ demonstrated ability not to murder people, white America had largely been responsible for the majority of police slayings in America.
The events of 6 January 2021 were the end of white power. They couldn’t see it, yet, but the dominance of white America was dead, killed off by the the stupid people others of this race chose to coddle instead of treating them to the delights of police brutality and declarations of “He should have complied.”
Alas, white America fully realized its potential, morphing into a vocal yet tepid minority hell bent on being the reason we can’t have nice things. White America, through its insistence of remaining a serious cultural and economic power, instead showed itself to be what it has always been: entitled, greedy, selfish, violent, and ultimately cowardly. White America was no longer the paragon of American culture and, sadly (for them), they would never again be taken seriously when they expressed their first-world grievances. If white genocide ever had a true perpetrator; if white people ever had a true enemy, it was white America.
